Lora's Story

Lora Fitton Therapy was founded by Lora Fitton LLB (Hons), a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Before training as a counsellor, Lora worked across law, education, property and personal training. These experiences gave her a broad understanding of the pressures and expectations that can shape adult life, and sparked her interest in what can sit beneath the surface of how someone appears to be coping.

Lora understands that finding the right therapist can feel daunting. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective counselling, creating a space where clients can be open, understood and explore what is really going on for them.

Lora's Motivation

Lora is particularly interested in the mismatch that can exist between coping outwardly and struggling inwardly - and what tends to get missed when someone looks like they're managing fine.

She works with adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, life transitions and the many ways ADHD can affect self-esteem, emotions, relationships and identity. Lora believes therapy can provide the space to understand these experiences, make sense of what is happening and consider what might need to change.

Lora's Approach

Lora's work is grounded in a person-centred approach, with the individual at the heart of the therapeutic process. She does not believe therapy should follow a rigid formula, and adapts the work to each client's needs.

While clients remain in control of the direction of their therapy, Lora takes an active and engaged role. She listens closely, asks questions, reflects on what she notices and, where appropriate, gently challenges patterns or perspectives that may be keeping someone stuck. Other therapeutic techniques and perspectives may also be incorporated where appropriate.

Is Therapy Right for You?

Lora works with adults navigating anxiety, overwhelm, career and life transitions, questions around identity and self-worth, and the many ways ADHD can affect how someone experiences themselves and everyday life.

Many people who come to therapy are used to coping. They may be functioning well on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck or disconnected underneath. Others may have reached a point where a period of change, uncertainty or difficulty has made it harder to keep going in the same way.

For some, this may be their first experience of therapy. You may feel that you should be able to manage on your own, wonder whether your problems are “bad enough”, or simply not know what to expect. Lora offers an approachable and pressure-free space where you can talk openly and take things at a pace that feels right for you.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation and seeing whether it feels like the right fit.
